Flying Monsters 3D with David Attenborough
In Flying Monsters 3D Sir David Attenborough, the world’s leading naturalist, sets out to uncover the truth about the enigmatic pterosaurs, whose wingspans of up to 40 feet were equal to that of a modern day jet plane. Attenborough works with scientists to understand the incredible story of the evolution of the pterosaurs, a story that unfolds in such stunning locations as New Mexico, the Jurassic Coast of Lyme Regis in Britain, an ancient pterosaur landing site in Southern France and a fossil pit in Germany where near perfect pterosaur specimens have been found.
ZOO was the supervising VFX facility, overseeing the production of 120 stereoscopic VFX shots from inception to completion through storyboarding, previs and final shot production.
Work involved the creation of fully computer generated animated sequences were created to show the creatures in their environments as they were 200 million years ago.
CG Elements were also composited into live action stereo plates. The most complex of these involved a helicopter shoot of David Attenborough in a glider with CG creature flying alongside and around him.
